Update a Location: Best Practice
At times, your practice may need to update a location in your booking settings. Follow the guidance in this article to ensure the process is handled correctly.
Example: You wish to remove the Elm Therapy location, and add the Pine Massage location.
DO NOT do the following:
- Do not overwrite the name of the Elm Therapy location with the Pine Massage name.
Why not?
- The original location record for Elm Therapy will still exist, despite its new name.
- Renaming it to Pine Massage will cause all past and future appointments that were scheduled at Elm Therapy to show scheduled at Pine Massage, creating confusion for clients and staff.
Instead, do the following:
Phase out the old location:
- Select the Elm Therapy location from the dropdown menu.
- Under the Practitioners heading, uncheck all practitioners.

- Select the Services tab.
- For each service, click Edit and uncheck the Elm Therapy location in the Basic Info tab.
- Click Save.

- These steps will prevent both clients and staff from scheduling appointments at the Elm Therapy location.
- If you wish to place the old location at the bottom of your location list, open the Location dropdown menu and use the arrow icon to move it down.

- After the existing appointments for the Elm Therapy location have been completed, scroll down to the Resources heading and click the Remove Location button.
Add the new location:
- Click the Add Location button.
- Add a new location with the Pine Massage name.
- Under the Practitioners heading, select the practitioners who will see patients at the new location.
- Select the Services tab.
- For each service that will be offered at the Pine Massage location, click Edit and check the Pine Massage location.
- Click Save.
