Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
Two-Factor Authentication provides an extra layer of security to your IntakeQ account. Enabling it drastically reduces the chances of having your clients' private information stolen. When Two-Factor Authentication is enabled, an attacker would not only need to know your email and password, they would need to get a hold of the authentication code that can either be sent via SMS or obtained through an authenticator app.
How It Works
Once enabled, this is how Two-Factor Authentication will work:
- Sign in to IntakeQ with your email and password, as usual.
- An access code will be immediately sent to your phone via SMS, or you'll get the code from your authenticator app.
- You’ll be asked to enter the security code before having access to your account.
To keep things simple, you’ll have the option to trust the computer you’re using, so you don’t have to provide the second authentication step every time you sign in. You’ll still be covered, since Two-Factor Authentication will be required for any sign-ins made from a different computer.
How To Enable It
To enable Two-Factor Authentication, navigate to "More > Account" and you'll see two options under "Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)".
Select the method you'd like to use, on the screen that follows you'll be asked for varying information as outlined below. The most secure method is using the authenticator app.
Text Message (SMS)
Authenticator App
You'd download an authenticator app from your device's app store.
Security is only as strong as its weakest link, so if other people are accessing your account (assistants and administrators), please encourage them to enable Two-Factor Authentication as well.
