Can Adults Use the Client Portal on Behalf of Their Dependents?
If you work with minors, you can grant a parent access to their child's client portal, even if they only have a single email address. To do so, you must link the dependent's account to the parent/guardian account.
- Make sure that the parent already has an active portal account.
- Click Lists → Clients and open the minor's client profile.
- Select the Messages tab.
- Do not click the green Invite Client to Portal button; instead, click or link it to a parent portal.
- In the Link Portal Accounts window, search for the parent by starting to type their name or email. Select the proper client from the list.
- Click Link Portal Accounts.
- Repeat these steps for any other dependents of the same parent.
Parent/Guardian View
- When the parent logs into their portal, they will see an icon on the top menu that allows them to switch between profiles.
- Once linked, a parent can perform any action on behalf of the minor, such as fill out a form, pay an invoice, or book an appointment.
