ePrescribe: Add a Collaborating MD
Add a Collaborating MD to ePrescribe for states that require a collaborating MD's signature for controlled substances.
Collaborating MDs are necessary in ePrescribe when you need to prescribe all or certain prescriptions under another prescriber. This is not to be confused with Supervisors, who merely have their information listed on the prescription. Having the Collaborating MD in your account allows another prescriber to queue prescriptions to the Collaborating MD for approval.
Step One:
Add the Collaborating MD as an assistant to your account. This creates a free account that allows them to log in to PracticeQ and approve your queued prescriptions.
- Click More → Team → Assistants.
- Click + Add New Assistant.
- Invite the Collaborating MD via their preferred email.
- Note: Emails can only be used once in all of PracticeQ, across all accounts. If your Collaborating MD is already using their preferred email for another account, please reach out to hello@intakeq.com for support.

Step Two:
Once the Collaborating MD has accepted the invitation to PracticeQ, invite them to ePrescribe.
- Click More → ePrescribe.
- Scroll down to the Assistants heading. Select the type of ePrescribe access the Collaborating MD will have. Your choices are Basic Administrator access, Full Administrator access, or Normal access. If you select None, it will default to normal access.
- Note: To be approved for EPCS, you must grant the assistant Full Administrator access.
- Click Send Invitation Email.
- The MD will then need to accept the invite via their email.
Step Three:
- Once your Collaborating MD has activated their ePrescribe account, please reach out to hello@intakeq.com so PracticeQ Support can assign the user the proper permissions.
- In your email, please provide the following information:
- Name of user
- DEA
- License Number
- NPI
- Name of user
Step Four:
The Collaborating MD will need to verify their identity through ID.me.
- Ask the Collaborating MD to go to More → ePrescribe.
- Have them follow the prompts for ID.me verification. Note: If they already have an ID.me account, there will be a link for existing accounts; they can use their existing account.
- Return to ePrescribe and approve the request for EPCS that will appear after the ID verification is complete. If you have trouble with this step or do not see the request, please email hello@intakeq.com.
Step Five:
Once the Collaborating MD is active in ePrescribe and has finished ID.me, request access to prescribe for them. This allows you to queue prescriptions to them for approval.
- In your own ePrescribe account, click on the Provider tab.
- Click Request. You should see the Collaborating MD's name here. Request access.
- Once you have done this, ask the Collaborating MD to go to More → ePrescribe to grant you access. There will be a little bar on the top of the screen asking them to approve this.
You're done! If you have any issues, please email us at hello@intakeq.com!
