ePrescribe: Set Up a Compound
Set up compound medications in the ScriptSure database to prescribe to your clients.
1. Click Lists → Clients and open the client profile.
2. Select the Prescriptions tab.
3. Click + Prescribe New Drug.
4. Once in the client's profile in the ScriptSure interface, click the Prescribe New Drug button.
Note: You must be in a client profile in order to set up the compound template.
5. Click the Compound/Specialty button.
6. Click Setup Compound.
7. In the next window, click the Add Compound button.
IMPORTANT: If you do not see the Setup Compound button, that means that you do not have permissions to set up a compound medication. You will be able to select an existing compound to prescribe for a client, but you may not create a new one.
6. Enter a Title and a Comment for the Compound. The Comment is required to proceed.
Note: The Title will be the name of the compound when selecting it on‐screen; this name is only visible in ScriptSure and does not send to the pharmacy! You will set the name of the drug the pharmacist will see in the next steps. The Comment is also only visible in ScriptSure and will indicate to users what the medication is used for.
7. Click Add Compound.
8. From the list of compound medications, select the compound you created.
9. Click Edit in the Compound section.
10. The Edit compound window will open. Enter the following for the compound medication:
- Ingredients (click Add Drug each time you need to add a new ingredient)
- Quantity
- Directions
- Pharmacy
11. Click Update Compound.
IMPORTANT: The preferred name and the Ingredient 1 name can be the same. At least one ingredient must be on all compounds, so if the preferred name is description enough of what is needed, individual ingredients do not need to be added. However, you can repeat the preferred name in the ingredient 1 drug description. There is a Quantity for Ingredient 1 and a Final Quantity. Both of these will be the same when you add only one ingredient.
