Set Up Your Account for Generating Claims
Complete the following steps before generating claims in PracticeQ.
Enable Required Features
- Click More → Settings → Features.
- Enable the following features:
- Patient Diagnosis
- Superbills
- Insurance Claims
Enter your DX Codes and CPT Codes
Most practices work with a limited number of diagnosis codes and CPT codes.
- Click Lists → Invoices → Invoice Settings → Superbill.
- Click Manage Diagnosis Codes and Manage CPT Codes to build these lists.
Enter the Clinical Information
- Click Lists → Claims → Claims Settings.
- Move through each tab to enter the information about your practice.
- Click Save Changes after completing each tab.
Limit the Insurance Payers List (Recommended)
By default, PracticeQ will pull the list of payers supported by Office Ally or TriZetto based on the provider you're connected to. You will need this if you plan to submit electronic claims through their systems.
The default list is quite extensive. We recommend that you limit it to only show the Insurance Payers you work with for the following reasons:
- This will reduce errors, as some Payers have very similar names.
- If you collect insurance information in your intake forms, this will limit the choices your patients can pick from.
Add a Payer to your list:
- Click Lists → Claims → Claims Settings.
- Start typing the Payer name to search it.
- Choose the Payer from the list of suggestions.
- Click Add Payer.
- Once a payer is added to your list, click Edit to add an address. Some clearinghouses require this.
Assign CPT Codes and Rates to your services (Optional)
If your services have a predetermined set of rates and procedure codes, you can enter them in your system settings. This means you will not have to enter them manually on each claim.
Set your procedures per service:
- Click Bookings → Booking Settings → Services.
- Find the service and click Edit.
- Open the CPT Codes tab.
- Set the default Place of Service, CPT Codes, Price per Unit and Unit.
Now when a claim is created for this type of session, this information will pull automatically.
