Add and Manage Diagnosis Codes
Superbills require diagnosis codes (i.e. ICD-10 and DSM-5 code sets). You can easily add, edit, or delete diagnosis codes in PracticeQ.
Add Diagnosis Codes to Your System
- Click Lists → Invoices → Invoice Settings.
- Select the Superbill tab.
- Scroll down to the Diagnostic Coding section and click Manage Diagnosis Codes.
- There are four options for managing diagnosis codes.
- Upload List: This option allows you to upload a list of ICD-10 codes. The file must be in CSV format. The spreadsheet must contain a column labeled Code and a column named Description. Please limit your list to the diagnostic codes relevant to your practice; do not upload the entire ICD-10 list.
- Add New Code: This option allows you to create a procedure code and description. Once added, it will appear in the list as you see in the above image.
- Click the pencil/paper icon to edit an existing diagnostic code.
- Click the X icon to delete an existing diagnostic code.
Add Diagnosis Codes to Clients
Add diagnosis codes to the client timeline via treatment notes. This allows you to generate superbills for the client.
- Click Lists → Clients.
- Select the client who requires diagnosis codes.
- From the Timeline on the left side of the screen, either select an existing treatment note (shown in blue) or create a new one. You can also add diagnosis codes to the pinned note.
- With a treatment note open, ensure that you are in Edit mode. The button beside Saved on the upper right will say Lock. If it does not, click Edit to enter Edit mode.
- Click More.
- Select Add Diagnosis.
- Click on each diagnosis code you wish to add. Each code will turn blue after you select it.
- Click Done Selecting.
- If you need to remove a diagnosis code from the treatment note, click Remove.
- Remember to lock the treatment note when you are finished by clicking Lock in the upper gray menu.
Now that you have added diagnosis codes to the client, you will see them in the client's profile under the Diagnosis tab. You can access the specific treatment note that a diagnosis code was added to by clicking open note, as seen below.
