Enter Placeholder Text

A "placeholder" is the text that displays when an input text box field is empty. Use it to provide more information about what needs to be entered in the field.

Placeholder text displays gray in the input field:

Set the placeholder for a text box in a Mixed Controls block

1. Click the gear wheel icon in the top right corner of the field.
2. Type your text in the Placeholder field.
3. Click OK.

Set the placeholder for an Open Answer question

• Type your text in the Placeholder field at the bottom of the question item.
