3. Setting Up Your Note Template for Heidi
1. Use Key Phrases for Better Tracking
Heidi does not read section headers in your note template. Instead, ensure your template questions contain key phrases that match the verbal prompts you use in your session.
Example: If discussing patient history, use the word "past" in both your template question ("Can you tell me about your past medical conditions?") and in your verbal prompt ("Tell me about your past surgeries.").
2. Avoid Pinned Questions for Auto-Filled Data
- Heidi ignores pinned questions to prevent overwriting any important data you have manually stored. If a note section is critical and should not be auto-filled, consider pinning it.
- Note:
3. Creating Sections for Manual Note-Taking
- If you want to manually jot down notes during a session and have Heidi ignore that section, set up a specific [question type] in your note template.
Supported Question Types
These question types will be included in Heidi’s note processing:
- Open Answer
- Multiple Choice
- Mixed Control Types:

Important Note: Existing data in these fields will be overwritten by Heidi when pushing data back into the note.

- Use Relevant Templates: Choose the right template for the visit type.
- Provide Prompts: Call out different sections explicitly (e.g., "The plan for the client is...").
- Review and Edit: Check the generated notes for accuracy.
Navigating Tabs Inside the Heidi Widget
Click the horizontal ellipsis ( ...) in the widget to access different sections:
- Context: Patient details passed from PracticeQ (e.g., diagnosis, prescriptions if subscribed to eRx).
- Transcript: A record of the provider’s speech during the session.
- Note: The AI-generated summarized version of the transcript.
- Structured Data: The formatted Heidi note content inserted into the PracticeQ note structure.
- Magic Wand: This gives you access to templates provided or created with Heidi. You can copy and paste the text generated for these letters into a note template with a single Open Answer question type. Read more here.
Best Practices for Using Heidi in Telehealth Sessions
- Experiment with Headphones: Heidi can work with headphones using Google Meet and Chrome. You will want to test this with your setup if you use other video call software. Heidi relies on audio from both the provider and patient.
- Ensure Adequate Speaker Volume: If using speakers, make sure your speakers are loud enough for Heidi to pick up the conversation.
Navigating Around PracticeQ While Using Heidi
It's possible to navigate around while the widget is listening but in order to push the data to the note, you MUST be on the original note.
Always Start Heidi from the Note You Want to Integrate With: Ensure proper data integration.
