Engage - Add Clients to the Opt-Out List

Engage offers an Opt-Out list for patients who do not wish to receive messages from your practice. Patients can choose to opt out of all communications, or just specific message types, such as appointment reminders or birthday reminders.


🛑 Have Patients Opt Out Themselves

Patients can opt out at any time by replying to a text message with one of the following keywords:
  • STOP
  • CANCEL
  • UNSUBSCRIBE
  • STOPALL
  • END
  • QUIT
Once a patient opts out, only they can opt back in by replying with one of the following in the same thread:
  • START
  • UNSTOP
  • YES


👩 Manually Add a Patient to the Opt-Out List

If a patient requests to be opted out manually, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Patients tab in Engage.
  2. Select Patients from the menu.
  3. Find the patient and click the Edit (✏️) icon next to their name.
  4. In the communication preferences, select the specific messaging types they wish to opt out of (e.g., appointment reminders, birthday reminders).
  5. 4. Click the check mark icon to save your changes.
