Engage - Phone Number Provisioning, Step by Step

When your practice integrates with Engage, you will register your business for 10DLC and host your practice number for texting. Below are the steps.

‼️IMPORTANT: This process may take up to two weeks to complete‼️

Step 1:

  • Your practice will enable the Engage integration by following the steps in this article: Get Started with Engage.
  • As part of this step, your practice will complete an Account Setup form.

Step 2:

  • Twilio will review the business information from your Account Setup form. Twilio will email your practice (donotreply@twilio.com) explaining that they need 3-5 business days to review your submission.
  • Twilio is a company that reviews your number and business information, then clears it for SMS and MMS messaging service. 

Step 3: 

  • Twilio will acquire a Toll Free number (not your practice number) for your practice to use temporarily. They will send you an email once this is complete. 
  • IMPORTANT: You will not be able to use Engage for a practice location until Twilio has provided you with a Toll Free number. Some locations may receive their Toll Free numbers before others. Your locations will only use the Toll Free numbers for Engage services until your office number is 10DLC approved. 
  • Once you have your Toll Free number, follow these steps to register your practice number. You only have to do this for one of your locations:
  1. Click Engage from your PracticeQ toolbar.
  2. Click Location Details.
  3. The page will default to the General tab. Select the Business tab.
  4. Complete/update the form with your practice information.
  5. Click REGISTER.

Step 4:

  • Reach out to PracticeQ Support by emailing hello@intakeq.com. Let them know you have begun the 10DLC registration process.
  • PracticeQ Support will assist you in completing the registration process and hosting your phone number. This step includes an automated call to your office. During the call, you will enter a verification code provided by PracticeQ Support.

Step 5: 

  • PracticeQ Support will procure a Letter of Authorization and send it to your practice.
  • Your practice will sign this document and send it back.

Step 6:

  • Registration is complete!
  • You will receive an email from IntakeQ (app@intakeq.com) explaining that your number is ready.
  • TIP: Send yourself a test message in the Patient Communicator to verify that the outgoing phone number looks correct.
  • For each location, you will see a pop-up window in Engage explaining that your number has been updated.
    • If you click DISMISS - this will hide the message for four hours; then it will pop up again.
    • If you click I UNDERSTAND - this will stop the message from popping up again.
