⚠️ This feature is currently in BETA and may not be available to all customers.
📵 How to Add Patients to the Opt-Out List
This article explains how to review and add patients who do not wish to receive messages from your practice. Patients can choose to opt out of all communications or just specific message types (like appointment reminders or birthday reminders).
🛑 How Patients Can Opt Out Themselves
Patients can opt out at any time by replying to a text message with one of the following keywords:
STOP, CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE, STOPALL, END, or QUIT
Once a patient opts out, only they can opt back in by replying:
START, UNSTOP, or YES to the same number.
👩 How to Manually Add a Patient to the Opt-Out List
If a patient requests to be opted out manually, follow these steps:
- Go to the Patients tab in Engage.
- Select Patients from the menu.
- Find the patient and click the Edit (✏️) icon next to their name.
- In the communication preferences, choose the specific messaging types they wish to opt out of (e.g., appointment reminders, birthday reminders)
4. Click the check mark under Actions to save.
✅ Tip
You can also use this screen to review which types of messages a patient has already opted out of or adjust their preferences as needed.
